Our thoughts
Big "It felt good to take a standard 'make a game in a banner' brief and take it to another level, and even better when the client liked it so much they ran our character across the whole campaign."

Small “I really enjoyed writing the script for Felicity, it really brought the idea to life”

Original interactive banners for PS3 title Lair featuring a gore-loving
riding instructor.

Challenge

The aim of this campaign was to create banners to launch a new PS3 title – Lair, which featured an innovative six-axis controller, enabling a more realistic gaming experience.

Concept
In order to produce work that would stand out from the cluttered gaming sites, saturated with game graphics, we created Felicity, a deranged, gore-loving riding instructor who would teach users how to train using the sex-axis controller.

Execution
To avoid simply reproducing the game (as happens with most PS3 launches) we created interactive video banners featuring Felicity in two training scenarios – an obstacle course and riding school, where players were taught how use the unique controller. As the users interacted with the game characters, Felicity would react according to their performance, making for an original and memorable banner experience.

Results

This digital execution was so well received by the client, that we were given double the budget to produce the ads as well as leadership to create the press campaign, which had, until then been concepted by another agency.

Lair Press
To support the digital campaign, we also designed DPS press ads, which were featured in Edge Magazine, Empire magazine, Total Film, T3 mag, OPSM and PSM.

Lair Viral

Towards the end of the shoot we had some fun with Felicity,
and produced a teaser viral that could be seeded before the launch.
